# Record your first meeting

> Choose recording defaults and verify the transcript, recap, tasks, and opportunity updates.

Octo can join supported meetings, create a transcript and recap, extract action items, and connect the result to the relevant records.

**Time:** 3 minutes to configure

**Before you begin:** Connect the calendar that contains your customer meetings.

## Choose your recording default

Open **Settings → Meeting Intelligence** and choose:

* **External meetings** for the safest default for most sales teams
* **All meetings** if internal pipeline and strategy calls should also be captured
* **Manual invite** if you want to decide meeting by meeting

**1. Select a default**

Choose the option that matches what your team is comfortable recording.

**2. Review the next eligible meeting**

Confirm the meeting has a supported conference link and appears in Octolane.

**3. After the meeting, open its recap**

Review the transcript, summary, decisions, action items, and linked records.

**4. Correct anything that is wrong**

Reassign a speaker, edit a task, or adjust a linked record while the context is still fresh.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Recording expectations vary by company and location. Make sure your team follows its consent and privacy requirements.

## Check your work

The meeting should appear on the correct record timeline, with its recap and action items available to the team.
