# Threading and conversation linking

> How emails get attached to the right opportunity.

Octolane links emails to opportunities using:

1. Thread participants and domain
2. References to the opportunity by name, project, or product line
3. Calendar invites cross-referenced with the thread
4. Manual override when needed (move once. Octolane remembers)

When a thread spans multiple opportunities, you can split it.
