# Accounts

> Company records. How they're created, enriched, and merged.

An Account is a company in Octolane.

## How accounts are created

* Auto-created from any outbound or inbound email with a new domain.
* Auto-created from a calendar invite with external attendees.
* Created manually, via CSV import, the API, or Zapier.

## Enrichment

We enrich every account from the live web: industry, employee count, funding, tech stack, social links, and HQ location.

## Merging

Duplicates surface automatically when we detect the same legal entity across domains or names. See [Merging duplicates](/managing-data/merging-duplicates).
