Before you begin

You need an Octolane account and a Google account that contains customer email or calendar activity. Use the account where real customer conversations already happen. Octolane begins organizing your customer data after you connect Gmail and Calendar. The initial sync continues in the background while you complete the rest of this guide.

Connect Gmail and Calendar

Create an Octolane account or open the workspace you want to configure. In Octolane, open Settings → Integrations → Gmail & Calendar and choose the Google account you use for customer conversations. Complete the authorization flow for both Gmail and Calendar. Octolane uses those conversations and meetings to connect people, companies, and opportunities. Review Security for details about permissions, data handling, and compliance.

Open Accounts or Contacts and choose a person or company you recognize. Confirm that its email and meeting activity belongs to the correct record. Then open Opportunities. If Octolane has detected a deal, review its account, contacts, stage, and recent activity.

Complete your first action

Open AI Chat and ask a question that is easy to verify:
Find an opportunity
Then request a small action:
Create a task
Review the proposed task, approve it, and confirm that it appears on the opportunity.

Check your work

You are ready to continue when all of the following are true:
  • At least one familiar account or contact appears
  • Its conversation history is attached to the correct record
  • AI Chat can answer a question using that data
  • Your approved test task appears on the expected opportunity
Confirm that you connected the inbox containing external customer conversations. Initial processing time varies with inbox size. If the sync has finished and the workspace is still empty, contact support.
Correct the relationship from the record and review merging duplicates if two records represent the same person or company.
